McMorris Rodgers, who chairs the House Republican Caucus, initially invited the billionaire real estate mogul to meet with GOP members when Trump paid a visit to Capitol Hill last month.

"Since Mr. Trump became the presumptive nominee, members have asked for us to organize an opportunity for our conference to spend time with him before the convention," an aide to McMorris Rodgers told reporters.

"The chairwoman announced to members at this morning's conference that on July 7th they will have the chance to meet with Mr. Trump, share their policy priorities, learn about his plans to unite the party; and get details about his plans to move America forward."

McMorris Rodgers has endorsed Trump, and said that she voted for him in last month's Washington presidential primary.

The Trump candidacy, and Trump's feuds and fiery public statements, have caused deep unrest among House Republicans.
 

Even such Trump endorsements as that of Rep. Dan Newhouse, R-Wash., have been tepid.

"It looks like Trump is going to be the Republican nominee: I don't agree with him on everything, but I think our nation needs a change after eight years of the Obama Administration," Newhouse, a Central Washington Republican said last month.

The Republicans' divisions were apparent even after Tuesday's caucus meeting. House Speaker Paul Ryan again distanced himself from Trump's call for a ban on Muslims entering the United States.

"I do not think a Muslim ban is in our country's interests," Ryan told reporters. "I do not think it is reflective of our principles not just as a party, but as a country. I think the smarter way to go in all respects is to have (a) security test, and not a religious test."

Ryan said the U.S. is engaged in "a war with radical Islam. It's not a war with Islam."
